What are Storygems?

First of all: Gems can not be bought with real money. They can only be earned by writing good chapters.
Beginning a new Story consumes one gem. We included Storygems to encourage authors to write Chapters and thus continue existing Stories, instead of beginning a new Story. Don’t you agree that fewer but longer Stories with a lot of choices are better than a lot of short Stories?
After all, getting new Storygems isn’t that difficult. With each Level up you get another one.

How do I level up?

You increase your level by gaining experience points. You gain experience points:
- By publishing chapters
- If other users rate your chapters well

Should I rate Chapters?

Definitely! Reward good Chapters. Make other Authors happy.

Someone just smashed the keyboard and ruined my Story. What can I do?

If you read bullshit, like inappropriate stuff or just random characters, give a low rating to the corresponding chapter. Our rating system will then detect these chapters and decide whether to delete it or not.

How can I continue to read a Story?

Use bookmarks to save the progress of your reading. Furthermore the “currently reading” section in the Story browser provides your last five read Chapters.

How can I get rid of Stories written in languages I don’t understand?

You can set your default languages in the settings menu. You also can search for Stories with specific languages in the advanced search menu of the Story browser. Currently Chapverse supports English and German.

A following Chapter is locked by another User. What does this mean?

It means that someone else is currently writing this Chapter. It can be read after it has been published or edited after it has been unlocked.
Note that locked chapters will be unlocked automatically after a few days if the you do not continue writing.

Lock a Chapter: What does this do?

Claim to write a Chapter begun by another Author. Maybe this other Author suggested just a Chapter title. Or he forgot to write something for some time. In all cases it is up to you to finish this Chapter.

Unlock a Chapter: What does this do?

Ran out of ideas? Accidentally locked a Chapter? Unlock it and let someone else write this Chapter.

Can my Story or Chapter be deleted?

Published Stories or Chapters can not be deleted manually. If you did not write something in a non published Chapter for a few days, other Authors get the option to edit or delete your Chapter. Of course you can delete your own Chapters and Stories, if they are not published yet.

What are tags?

Tags are buzzwords that describe the content of your Chapter. Stories contain all tags of their Chapters. You can search for Stories with individual tags in the Story browser. This is for example very useful for fanfiction. Writing a chapter with your favorite Harry Potter character? Then tag it with "Dolores Umbridge"! Other Umbridge fans can then find the story by searching for this tag.
